Visage of fishery of Golestan
Golestan province with about 20437, 74 km2 area (1.3 percent of whole
country area) and with 1,617,087 population (2.3 percent of total population of
country) is located in the north of Iran and just at the eastern Plateau of
Caspian Sea.
From the point of fishery view, Golstan province is very important because of
its different Climate, natural water pools, upper dam lakes, locating in three
important watersheds of Golestan River, Atrak River And Qarasoo River, unique
aqueous ecosystems of Gorgan bay and Gomishan wetland and mild slope of Caspian
sea Coasts at south east region.
In 1979, according to potentials and capabilities of the province, Aquatic
department was established in local Jihad – e – Sazandegi, and started to work; then Gorgan and Gonbad fishery representation
were founded in 1994 and finally Golestan General Fishery Office was established
and become one of the seven general fishery offices in coastal provinces in
country.
In this direction, Golestan General Fishery Office has executed its significant
roles in marine and freshwater aquaculture (inland waters) based on the fishery
policies and purposes by providing essential substrate and substructures by
optimum exploitation of the existing resources and potential as well as the
employment of efficient human resources.
Today, Golestan province is determined as one of the substantial parts of
aquaculture, fishery and recruitment of sturgeon and
osteichthyes fish stocks around the country.
The major axis of activity of Golestan
General Fishery Office are:
1-
The mass of various species of sturgeon
and osteichthyies fish stocks in the Caspian Sea which took the first place in
the propagation of different sturgeon fingerling in the whole country
2-
Preserving
of valuable fish stocks in the Caspian Sea, especially sturgeon fish stocks and
prevention of illegal Fishing by Fisheries Protecduction Guard in coastal water
of Golestan province extending along 100 km.
3-
Fishing and planning to stable and
responsibly exploit of sturgeon and osteichthyes fish stocks in the province.
4-
Development of aquaculture and
exploitation of inland water Resources, water pools, wells in fresh water and
cold water departments Specially
Sturgeon fishes and shrimp farming to job
opportunities and to decline the pressure on the natural stock in the Caspian
Sea.
5-
Quality improvement of seafood to provide the food safety of the community
alteration of the market and increasing of seafood per capita consumption with
